EBU in General

The European Barge Union (EBU) represents the
majority of the inland navigation industry in Europe.
Its members are the national associations of barge
owners and barge operators of the leading European
inland navigation countries.
EBU’s main objective is to represent the interests of
the inland shipping industry at a European level and
to contribute to the development of a sustainable and
efficient European transport system.
To contribute to this aim EBU is in close contact with
the European institutions and organises seminars and
events to bring its members in direct contact with
representatives of mentioned institutions.

Benefits of Corresponding Membership 

Corresponding members can benefit from the following services:

• Information about official positions and statements of EBU.
• Invitation to official seminars and events of EBU.
• Possibility to propose issues to be dealt with by EBU.
• Participation in one or more of its committees, which are in the area of involvement of the member, and invitation to participate at committee meetings in specific situations.

Corresponding Membership Fee 2026

To join EBU as corresponding members the following fees apply:

• for individual companies the annual membership fee is 3.600 EURO
• for national and international organisations the membership fee will be fixed by the Board of Directors
based on the individual applications with a minimum of 6.600 EUR
